Guild Wars 2 Shows off New World vs. World Changes Coming Soon as well as in Later Patches.
Guild Wars 2 will be receiving a brand new update tomorrow, and ArenaNet has Launched a new Sneak peek of what to expect from the World vs. World modifications.
Communicated through a dev blog from WvW Team Lead Cecil Armstrong and Floyd Grubb, senior designer, they start by recapping their objectives and priorities for WvW. These are:
- Address player population balance issues through the World Restructuring and Alliances features.
- Make WvW more rewarding to play with a focus on active participation.
- Refine and iterate on core WvW systems like scoring, siege, upgrades, etc.
Tomorrow’s update will enhance the rewards received, Hinting at that second goal. The update will also contain some modifications that are created to promote getting into direct conflict more frequently. One of the methods they’re doing this is with those high rewards. The patch will present a batch of weekly objectives reset each Sunday at 11:30 PM Pacific. Achieving objectives on the list will give additional rewards, like eight gold and up to 35 bonus WvW Skirmish Claim tickets.
Foresee More supply dolyaks and more valuable camps. Camps will Give more supply and have a more substantial base maximum. Keeps and Stonemist Castle get drops in maximum base supply and fewer benefits from upgrades. This will make it quicker for the attacking side to lower supply reserves without busily making the defenders less safeguarded.
Also arriving tomorrow are some Changes to sieges, with flame rams and ballistae getting improved durability. With flame rams especially, there was a problem that kicked players off siege weapons under specific circumstances, but this will ultimately be fixed.
These are modifications coming tomorrow, but what about the future? The WvW Rework is still a continuous process, and they will resume making changes to WvW. As for more betas, the team is postponing until Alliances is ready for live testing before they prepare new ones.
